Turkish Economy with words
English love of long sentences
The Turkish use of "yok" confuses many English people when shopping it's really easy. For all instances of gone, sold out, hasn't arrived yet, yok will cover all these situations. "got any apples ?" (elma var mı?) "elma yok, Ali uyuyakaldı". Ali the delivery man overslept this morning
Turkish and English negation using "yok" in a shopping scenario. Turkish shopkeepers use "yok" there isn't or there aren't any. English uses both Yok there isn't there aren't as well as we have not, we dont have any. This is confusing to English speakers who regard these as being the same. But not in Turkish. In Turkey it's always "yok" in a shop to mean all possible English ways. to say "none" "gone" "out of stock"."sold out" "it hasn't arrived yet". Although these are possible in Turkish "yok" is a standard in Turkey
Pattern: [Item] var mı? → Yok.
